James Dean: Rebel Without a Cause

In post-World War II America, the 1950s ushered in new ideas of film archetypes, including the new, rebellious teenager.This course, through lectures and guided viewing of the film Rebel Without a Cause, will examine James Dean's rise to movie star status and the role of "rebel." We will also take a brief look at another Dean film, East of Eden.
