Building a Website Using Wordpress: Getting Started

WordPress is one of the most popular content management systems (CMS) on the internet, making it easy for anybody to create a highly-functional professional website quickly. WordPress has unlimited theme designs and plugins that can dramatically change the look and functionality of your website. Students will learn how to find and install various themes and plugins as well as learn how themes work behind the scenes using template tags with PHP. This class teaches the new user how to get their website up and running quickly while understanding the right way to install, administer and customize their website.
There are no prerequisite requirements for this class. This is a beginner's class so we will be covering the basics of WordPress below:

  • Installing WordPress on Your Local Computer
  • Tour of the WordPress Admin/Optimization
  • Installing Themes and Popular Plugins
  • User Roles and Capabilities
